Requirements


  • bexley Council - Head of Finance - Adult Services
  • plymouth Council - Head of Integrated Finance
  • finance / Head of Finance / Local Authority/Public Sector/Financial Management/Financial Projects
  • minimum of 10 years of experience in finance operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • proven track record of implementing global finance processes and systems
  • experience working in a multinational organization with a geographically dispersed workforce
  • excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization
  • demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
  • fully qualified accountant
  • proven experience in financial management and strategic planning
  • strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • relevant degree or MAAT or CCAB qualification and / or work experience of at least equivalent level
  • manage a team of up to 10 FTE and oversee a staffing budget of up to £500k
  • experience of change management, implementing major change in a significant public sector organisation
  • this role involves a blend of direct management and project-based management
  • provide financial management advice to service managers overseeing budgets up to £200m
  • in-depth knowledge of banking products and regulatory requirements

Responsibility


  • to proactively identify areas of weak financial management, risks and pressures and to work with the relevant service to improve them
  • to work with directors and senior stakeholders to ensure they have the information and tools and develop the skills
  • to manage their finances themselves
  • to be customer-focused and to develop self-service underpinned by reducing finance support
  • to proactively lead the financial advice and support within Business Partnering, particularly with reference to delivering savings and maximising service outcomes to residents

  • duties of this role will be to
  • each Head of Finance Business Partnering is responsible for leading and implementing the business partnering function for the specified service area. They will act as a partner with the service leadership teams to develop
  • responsible for delivery of programmes within allocated resources, developing strategies, providing specialist advice and policy options as required
  • develop and implement a global Accounts Payable process to minimize risk and maximize efficiency across all regions
  • lead a team of finance professionals to ensure seamless transaction processing and reconciliation
  • collaborate with regional finance directors to standardize and optimize AP and Accounts Receivable procedures
  • utilize technology and automation tools to enhance the scalability and effectiveness of financial operations
  • identify and mitigate risks associated with high-volume transactions and low-value payables
  • drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and increase productivity
  • provide strategic guidance on financial operations to support the company's growth objectives
  • act as a liaison between finance, IT, and other departments to ensure alignment and integration of systems and processes
