Requirements


  • proven experience as a CFO ideally gained within a Technology of Finance Services associated organisation
  • excellence knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • previous experience of transforming a finance function would be advantageous to the position
  • ability to problem solve and see the wider picture
  • excellent Communicator
  • A relevant Accountancy Qualification i.e. ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • strong Commercial understanding - this role will need an individual that isn't just Finance focused, part of the position will work closely with the CEO to assist in the over company strategy & operations
  • strong leadership and organisational skills
  • to be suitable for the role you need have the relevant accountancy experience
  • be an existing S151 officer in a Local Authority
  • any local government Corporate Accountancy experience is highly welcomed

Responsibility


  • this role is fully remote however, the candidate must live within a 1 hour commute from the DL8 area

  • co-ordinating and directing the preparation of the budget
  • take responsibility for ensuring the effective financial systems and processes are in place in order to meet all statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as reporting and planning the needs of the business
  • ensuring the Council is statutorily compliant on all financial matters
  • prepare and present reports to council committee meetings or other internal or external meetings ensuring compliance, transparency, and scrutiny
  • the Senior Finance Officer will report to the VAT Accountant and will support on a range of areas within Corporate Accountancy team
  • balance sheet and other reconciliations
  • liaising with and providing information to internal and external audit as require
  • monitoring and reporting on financial controls
  • to ensure effective cross Council working for self and reports to enable strategic achievement and enabling collaboration, innovation and engagement and delivery of Council priorities under the overall guidance of the Director for Strategy, Performance and Governance
  • in conjunction with the Director of Strategy Performance and Governance, responsible for the review and implementation of business process changes that drive further efficiencies and cost savings within the Council
