Requirements


  • relevant: 10 years
  • senior level insurance industry experience in P&C and life.: 5 years
  • knowledge of the actuarial techniques involved in non-life insurance, including the requirements of Solvency II and preferably of IFRS17
  • preferably knowledge of reserving tools including ResQ or similar
  • experience in non-life insurance work, preferably across a range of work areas
  • FIA or qualified actuary with good relevant experience
  • proven track record of delivering and managing actuarial projects
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
  • relevant and transferrable skills and experience in actuarial, financial reporting, solvency and capital modelling, validation and analysis
  • good leadership and management skills with a drive-for-results mentality, a positive and focused mindset and the ability to multi-task
  • proactive individual with can-do attitude who can challenge and improve existing processes and methodologies
  • experience within Pensions Industry
  • nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary - up to 3 years post qualified experience
  • qualified, newly qualified or nearly qualified
  • insurance experience essential
  • ALM experience essential
  • qualified Actuary / General Insurance/London Market Actuarial experience
  • qualified Actuary
  • experience in actuarial capital modelling would be advantageous but not essential

Responsibility


  • supporting the Actuarial Services Team in assessing and approving internal capital model applications for setting regulatory capital requirements
  • supporting the Department in the development and application of statistical and financial analytics
  • supporting the Licensing and Authorisations Team in relation to insurer applications and authorisation requests
  • developing industry benchmarks for methodologies and assumptions used to research and develop best practices for analytics
  • assisting with the ongoing development of the Bermuda supervisory regime, particularly in relation to the Economic Balance Sheet and capital requirement
  • assisting the Supervisory Teams with onsite inspections and desk-based analysis, particularly as it relates to establishing the appropriateness of insurer reserving practices, solvency self assessments and compliance with applicable legislation, codes and guidance
  • representing the client at various local/international meetings, conferences, seminars involving information exchanges and meetings with regulatory bodies, government agencies, the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and the financial services industry to help influence the development of international insurance supervisory regimes and to maintain and develop key relationships whilst keeping abreast of industry trends
  • identify and implement any required improvements or re-development of the actuarial reporting processes, data requirements and methodology, as well as related actuarial reporting metrics and analysis
  • support Pricing with recommendations of asset mix alternatives and returns , support onboarding of assets
  • monitor impact of trading and liability changes in quarter
  • support the Head of ALM in producing regular asset/liability projections, evaluating and recommending new asset classes and providing regular reporting on trading activities
  • support the Head of ALM and Investments with formulating asset strategy, taking into account relative asset attractions under regulatory regimes and setting guidelines for Investments on trading
  • assist the team to maintain funding risk date, systems and reporting infrastructure
  • providing technical expertise to support the development of methodology for credit downgrade risk stress and scenario testing
  • production of cash flow and pricing models for BPA transactions
  • strategic direction is to limit usage of Excel and end user computing tools over time
  • working closely with other teams to support BPA pricing and execution, including reinsurance, asset management, capital management and operations
  • working with the Senior Deal Lead to navigate complexities and non-standard requests
  • development of junior members of the team
  • presenting to internal and external stakeholders on new deal prospects
