Responsibility
- junior Laboratory Technician

- breeding and maintaining various species of insect cultures

- conduct and planning of test system checks and calibrations and maintenance on equipment
- assist in the purchase of new laboratory equipment
- supporting team members by setting up and putting away equipment

- performing daily fridge temperature and weekly balance checks
- you will also support the team with general laboratory duties, including cleaning
- ordering of chemicals and general consumables
- conduct tests and analysing results
- conduct & assist other team members with testing in the Laboratories
- maintenance of raw data/accurate recording
- effectively manage and document any issues raised, ensuring these are dealt with in a timely manner and to a successful conclusion
- booking in of test items to the relevant sample cupboards
- conduct standard tests to GLP without supervision
- ordering consumable items and chemicals for use in study experiments
- preparation of materials and equipment
- performing daily and weekly balance, temperature and barometric pressure checks
- movement/disposal of chemical samples using Globex database
- liaise with customers to co-ordinate projects and relay results and interpretation
- updating and writing SOPs and other company documents
- laboratory report writing
- booking out of chemicals from the laboratories and organising sample disposal
- perform equipment calibration, maintain calibration records and conduct test system checks
- assisting other staff to conduct testing in the RT Laboratory

- to work together with other departments within DEKRA to identify any process improvements and improve standards, efficiency and profitability

- understanding of common laboratory methodologies and practices, quantities and reactions of mixing chemicals and hazardous materials
- ideally, experience dealing with laboratory equipment, e.g. Electrical equipment, fume cupboards, pressure vessels, etc. – not essential as training is provided
- good written and verbal communication, problem solving and team working skills
