Responsibility

• be responsible for the quality and management of waste records in both paper and electronic formats
• be responsible for managing team workload, people, performance, staff development, control and supervision, event reporting, learning, communications and SQEP assessment
• ensure key documentation including working instructions, specifications, and technical reference documents are available and accurate

• have management oversight and to effectively use the Access© and Paradox© databases holding radioactive waste inventory and safety case information to allow waste to move through its required processing routes
• perform the duties of a Nuclear Material Custodian, including inventory taking and to ensure that the Magnox accountancy system for Nuclear Material is accurate and updated
• this includes the scanning, checking, and uploading of documents and package records for wastes that will be transferred to the future National Repository
• there may be a requirement to undertake emergency scheme duties
• manifest and authorise waste operations activities aligned to all relevant Safety Case criteria and other operational controls; Update inventories via utilisation of supporting electronic systems; Manage the data generated during operations and, when required provide direct support to facilitate those operations; own of all aspects of inventory data, and the three key records database systems and ensure that all data and code is effectively managed

Requirements

• experience of nuclear waste management, covering a broad range of alpha, beta and gamma emitting wastes in differing forms
• A Degree in a relevant scientific, environmental or Engineering subject or NQF level 5
• knowledge of environmental practices, policies, legislation and stakeholders relating to radioactive and non-radioactive waste management
