Requirements
- accredited dispensing assistant course
- NVQ Level 3 in dispensing
- experience of working in a pharmacy or dispensary environment is also essential
Responsibility
- take and process prescription requests in line with Practice procedure
- effective leadership of the dispensary team
- to accurately maintain Patient Medication Records to ensure patient safety and in accordance with data protection requirements
- to answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines
- select and label pharmaceutical products in accordance with a prescription by following Standard Operating Procedures and complying with all legal requirements
- promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the Practice Manager
- whenever there is doubt surrounding the appropriateness of the item, the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorising Doctor, Duty Doctor, Advance Nurse Practitioner or Pharmacist
- ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients, ensuring correct prescription charges are collected and prescriptions are filled in and completed correctly
