Responsibility


  • you might be working on a main wing with a team of other PCOs responsible for prisoners
  • support a team of other Prison Custody Officers and work as a collaborative unit
  • supervise residents at mealtimes and manage regular routines
  • you’ll need to deal with the more challenging aspects of prison life such as abusive and violent behaviour
  • oversee movement around the facilities – visiting hours, education, and work placements
  • you’ll be working with all sorts of prisoners including those on long sentences, people convicted of serious crime and vulnerable individuals
  • play a key part in resident’s rehabilitation journey or offer support during their time in prison
  • treat all residents with fairness and respect
  • prison Officers or Prisoner Custody Officers are key to the effective running of our prisons and working for G4S, you would get involved in making sure the prison is safe and secure as well as assisting prisoner’s reform
  • you would also play a key role in giving prisoners structure and routine and ensuring that they are secure in the evening
  • you would be dealing with a wide variety of people as well as following processes and procedures in line with training and regulations
