Responsibility


  • criminal and Civil Litigation including conducting own advocacy
  • licensing law and public protection

  • enforcement of regulatory matters, including prosecutions

  • national Non-Domestic Rates litigation, inquests and debt recovery
  • commercial disputes and GDPR, Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Local Government law and procedures
  • this role is a mix of general commercial contracts but with more focus on corporate governance disputes involving director and shareholder claims
  • good working knowledge is required as to how companies are owned and operated, including the differences/interplay between the roles played by shareholders and directors and their respective rights and obligations
  • given that it is a niche area, we also specialise in defending insolvency claims and director disqualification proceedings issued by the Secretary of State. Therefore, understanding the subject is a bonus, but not a must
  • the ideal candidate needs to be able to operate autonomously with minimal supervision, so strong technical and client care skills are needed - great progression prospects to take over management of dept caseload etc
