Responsibility


  • drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a diverse range of inventions across multiple technical fields
  • conducting thorough prior art searches and patentability assessments to support patent drafting and prosecution
  • advising clients on intellectual property matters, including patent portfolio management, infringement analysis, and validity opinions
  • handling patent opposition and appeals procedures before relevant patent offices and boards
  • collaborating with clients and inventors to identify patentable inventions and develop effective patent strategies
  • providing strategic counsel on global patent filing strategies and managing international patent portfolios
  • assisting with patent litigation matters, including infringement litigation and patent invalidation proceedings
  • identifying and managing IP risks and opportunities associated with new projects and technologies
  • advising the business on potential IP risks through analysing freedom-to-operate searches and challenging the validity of third party rights
  • the firm are looking to hire someone who has solid UK, EPO or international patent experience
  • engaging with outside counsel to support patent drafting activities
  • drafting, filling and prosecution of software, life sciences and electrical patents
  • prosecuting patent applications globally, to deliver strategically relevant patents in a cost-effective manner
  • supporting the IP Enforcement team with litigation matters, including reviewing competitor products
  • NQ to 3 PQE UK and/or European Patent Attorney with a strong background in software patenting, electrical technologies or life sciences patenting
  • collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and technologies, identifying opportunities for patent protection
  • conduct thorough patent searches, analyse prior art, and evaluate patentability
  • prepare and draft high-quality patent applications, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • communicate and negotiate with patent offices, addressing objections, and securing the grant of patents
  • provide strategic advice to clients on patent portfolio management, including patent filing strategies, prosecution tactics, and enforcement strategies
