Responsibility
- measure and mark surfaces to be tiled and calculate the number of tiles needed
- prepare surfaces by removing old tiles, grout, or adhesive
- mix and apply mortar or other adhesives to secure tiles in place
- cut and shape tiles to fit around obstacles and into corners using hand tools or power tools
- align and straighten tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges
- apply grout between tiles and remove excess grout using a grout float or sponge
- follow blueprints, schematics, or design specifications to ensure proper tile installation
Requirements
- proven experience as a tile setter or similar role
- proficient in using hand tools and power tools relevant to tile setting
- strong knowledge of different tile materials, patterns, and installation techniques
- ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, or design specifications
- excellent attention to detail and precision in tile placement and alignment
- physical stamina to stand, kneel, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods of time
- good communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients
