I attended the Rhosddu Fun Day with my two small children, paying £10 each for them to have unlimited play on the inflatables. Everything was going well until five or six parents informed me that a man was screaming at and grabbing my child, and they were worried for his welfare. They said this man was the owner of the inflatables. As you can imagine, I was extremely concerned and approached him. What I encountered was nothing but abuse and an irrational reaction to my confrontation. He was shouting that my son had been behind the bouncy castle, which had live electrics. I completely understand the health and safety precautions, but his reaction to my child was totally abusive.
While dealing with this man, a woman who also worked for the events company began screaming at me and patronizingly insinuating that I didn't understand the danger my son was in. When I tried to explain that the issue was their verbal abuse of my son, she embarrassed and belittled me in front of everyone. She then threatened to have security remove my children and me. Security was called and asked us to leave. The outcry from witnesses and the threat of police involvement led the man who shouted at my child to apologize. Security also had been very sympathetic to the way we were treated. I must say synergy security were amazing.
While I acknowledge the apology, I have grave concerns about a child being treated this way by a company that works with children. If this happened to my son, I wonder how many others have experienced similar abuse. I am completely appalled and angry about the whole situation, and my child is traumatized. I hope this incident prompts reflections and actions to rectify such unprofessional behaviour
How terrible! Was there any follow-up, perhaps an official apology from the company? What steps are you planning to take next to ensure this doesn't happen to another child?
