  • sew garment parts together by hand or using a machine
  • make buttonholes and sew on fasteners and trimmings
  • shape garments by pressing seams, pleats, and other details
  • perform alterations on garments, including resizing, hemming, and repairing items as required
  • construct new garments from patterns or client specifications, ensuring precision in measurements and sewing techniques
  • consult with clients to understand their needs and preferences regarding fit, style, and fabric choices
  • maintain an organised workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are kept in good condition
  • keep up-to-date with fashion trends and techniques to provide clients with the best possible service
  • manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines without compromising quality
