Requirements


  • A degree level qualification in a bioscience or clinical/healthcare subject is essential
  • relevant editorial experience in a publishing office environment, ideally STM
  • A degree level qualification
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification and/or experience in an STM publishing environment would be an advantage

  • writing persuasive cover copy and keeping all title data up to date
  • proven written ability showcased through your application
  • acting as a point of contact for authors and agents
  • experience/ Knowledge of MS Office Excel/Word/ Outlook
  • demonstrable understanding of managing multiple stakeholders at varying seniorities
  • strong writing skills, with a keen grasp of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • great communication skills, familiarity with IT tools

Responsibility


  • consult editors, translators make proposals in the case of any omissions or discrepancies between the original and the translated text
  • being the key point of contact for all queries related to the Education team
  • tracking articles from submission to final decision; handling presubmission enquiries, identifying delays and contacting authors and reviewers to ensure timely publication
  • handling a range of queries from editors, authors, and reviewers, and escalating them as appropriate
  • you will be responsible for reviewing and editing Best Practice topic updates
  • work closely with the Editorial Coordinator to ensure journal workflows are efficient and tasks are prioritised effectively
  • overseeing and tracking manuscripts from submission to publication
  • you will play a crucial role in sourcing peer reviewers and ensuring the smooth running of our peer review process
  • provide support for manually intensive tasks as required until technological solutions can be implemented
  • handling pre-submission enquiries and article proposals
  • you will also help to support the commissioning process for Best Practice content
  • providing ScholarOne user support to authors, reviewers and editors on our article tracking systems and investigating improvements
  • supporting members of the team in helping journals and their editors to develop their reach and impact
  • accurately maintain journal management records and databases ensuring all information relating to the department’s journals is up to date
  • as required represent SAGE at necessary conferences, meetings and/or events to ensure the collation of information, the promotion of the journal portfolio and contribution to building SAGE brand
  • support department-wide initiatives and projects, as required
  • accurately and punctually compile publishing reports for individual titles
  • support Editors/Publisher in the drafting and sending of journal contracts and addenda, and ensure correct circulation following signature to assist in maintaining accurate records
  • monitor and report on turnaround times, peer review standards and author/editor survey results as required
  • provide training and support for Editors, Associate Editors and reviewers
