Requirements


  • A degree level qualification in a bioscience or clinical/healthcare subject is essential
  • A degree level qualification
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification and/or experience in an STM publishing environment would be an advantage
  • experience in an STM publishing environment
  • experience using the Scholar One submission system, Google Workspace, and Trello would be beneficial, but not essential

Responsibility


  • consult editors, translators make proposals in the case of any omissions or discrepancies between the original and the translated text
  • being the key point of contact for all queries related to the Education team
  • handling a range of queries from editors, authors, and reviewers, and escalating them as appropriate
  • you will be responsible for reviewing and editing Best Practice topic updates
  • overseeing and tracking manuscripts from submission to publication
  • you will play a crucial role in sourcing peer reviewers and ensuring the smooth running of our peer review process
  • handling pre-submission enquiries and article proposals
  • you will also help to support the commissioning process for Best Practice content
  • managing the conflicts of interest process
  • dealing with technical issues related to our submission and production systems
  • contributing to the improvement and implementation of systems and processes
  • you will be involved in various stages of the publication process, including identifying relevant clinical guidelines and liaising with our expert medical contributors
  • managing the input and accuracy of data on our publishing systems
  • managing book and prize submissions
  • maintaining internal systems
  • proofreading book covers
  • providing general office administration e.g. booking meeting rooms, arranging couriers, minuting meetings, processing expenses, processing invoices, sending out proof mailings, arranging for author advanced copies
  • preparing editorial material for the sales, communications and rights teams
  • carrying out ad hoc diary management for the Publishing Directors and the wider team e.g. organising team meetings, organising schedules for book fairs and overseas trips
  • support the Senior Content Editors and Content Editor with recipe testing for key projects
