- at our home in Neston, we support up to 5 Young People with a committed staff team
- good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately
- this role requires patience, resilience, and compassion as you support our young people to navigate various challenges and develop new skills
- the young people enjoy in house activities such as arts/crafts, baking, cooking, board games and quiz/movie/theme nights
- our young people often use self-harm and compensatory behaviours as a strategy to cope with their emotions
- your role will involve working with our young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills
- our young people can still be quite active at night so you will have lots of interaction and will be required to support them their wellbeing, education, household tasks and general life skills
- as Senior Support Worker your role will involve working alongside and supporting the Deputy and Registered Manager in supervising a team of staff and will carry out the co-ordination and leading of shifts
- the young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties
- basic IT skills
- you will take the lead and play an active part in the young persons key team, creating and updating care plans, work collaboratively with the homes multi-disciplinary team ensuring all actions have been completed
- several of our young people are preparing for moving on positively from the home into the community
- our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life
- good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others
- the home is a 6-bed service
- you will also support and help to manage incidents of self-harm and other risk-taking behaviours
- we always encourage our young people and staff to bring their hobbies and knowledge into the home whether this be knitting, fitness, cooking or even singing so there is never a dull moment
- in addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment
- you will also take an active role in supporting new members of the team and be involved in the recruitment of new staff attending interviews and local job fairs
- part of the role will be managing various levels of self-harm using a least restrictive approach, so you will require a high level of resilience and have a caring, compassionate nature
- this friendly historic market town, with weekly Friday market, has free parking and bus and train links
- an ability to maintain a professional working boundary
- there will never be a dull moment when you are on shift
- at our home in Liversedge, West Yorkshire you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnosis including personality disorder, those who have difficult relationships with food and those who use self-harm as a strategy to cope with their emotions
