Responsibility
- ensure sufficient numbers of staff are available to deliver quality and timely Domestic Services and the enquiry desk
- to work operationally and cover any staff shortages due to absence by the reallocation of work duties
- this will include looking for ways to develop specialist menus in order to continuously improve the service

- to Competently deputise/lead the department in the absence of managers when in training, meetings, leave or days off ensuring any problems/issues are resolved
- A working supervisor responsible for the direct supervision of the of the kitchen ensuring the patient meals are cooked and delivered in a professional manner whilst maintaining strict hygiene practices and adhering to departmental policies and procedures
- supervision of all catering staff ensuring the patient meals are cooked and delivered to the department schedules, whilst maintaining effective deployment of staffing resources including maintaining staff rotas
- the post holder will have overall responsibility for preparing, cooking and presenting high quality, nutritious, safe food for including for patients with specific dietary requirements adhering to all hygiene legislation, HACCP principles and Trust policies
- ensure hygiene and safety standards are maintained in accordance with department policies, whilst ensuring full compliance to the food safety act 1990
- prioritising competing work areas effectively and with regard to appropriate deadlines within a managed framework
- to include advice on allergens within meals and products
- organise stock control and consumables as directed
- to cover absence / breaks on the enquiry desk Liaise with ward or department staff to identify any issues of service performance and agree recovery actions, reporting persistent failures to the Assistant Facilities manager
- resolve operational services issues and failure in meeting the required service standards using own knowledge and experience within scope of grade
- fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules
- work closely with the service performance team in order to ensure service failures are rectified as soon as possible and within agreed response times To respond to and report on Datix, incidents occurring with staff within the department and inform Facilities Manager of such matters
- prepare, cook & present food for patients, using high level food preparation skills, providing input to the redesign of menus when reviewed
- as directed by the line manager, interpret data and performance information related to the operational delivery of Facilities Services
- key Responsibilites: In conjunction with the line manager, organise on a day to day basis, the planning and delivery of Domestic Services and the enquiry desk in accordance with service specifications, work instructions, service level agreements and client requirements
- conduct initial investigation as appropriate To ensure all work allocated is undertaken and completed in accordance with relevant polices and procedures, accurately and within agreed timescales
- the post holder must also be able to prepare adhoc and specific therapeutic diets, where exact requirements prescribed by dieticians must be followed and ensure that this is to a high quality standard at all times
- supervision and delegation of all necessary kitchen cleaning as detailed in the cleaning schedules
- check department financial documentation e.g
- to liaise with a multidisciplinary staff as appropriate to develop and maintain good working relationships and to ensure effective communication takes place at all times
- meet with patients and their carers on request to fully understand specific dietary requirements and ensure that the patient can be offered meals that are suitable for their needs

- record both manually and using the computer where necessary all food quantities issued, wastage and additional activity, ensuring accuracy
- correct and accurate completion of all documentation required for the effective maintenance of the departments Hazzard analysis and Critical Control point system i.e
- to ensure all work allocated is undertaken and completed in accordance with relevant polices and procedures, accurately and within agreed timescales
- check department financial documentation e.g. overtime sheets, consumable usage and time sheets
- to manage audit fails and rectifications, by way of issuing, signing and returning to relevant parties by given timeframe
- to cover absence / breaks on the enquiry desk
- they must build good working relationships with Dietitians, Ward staff and Ward Nutritionists to ensure the smooth running of the service
- report any equipment and works issues that require repair following the works department procedure
- ensure accurate receipt of deliveries in accordance with the departmental policy ensuring temperature control is maintained and delivered to appropriate areas
- to support the recording and taking appropriate action in the event of an accident e.g
- liaise with ward or department staff to identify any issues of service performance and agree recovery actions, reporting persistent failures to the Assistant Facilities manager
- assist in the Assistant Facilities Manager with the recruitment, appointment, induction, training, and retention of staff
