Requirements

  • strong knowledge of Scottish ecological legislation and consultancy experience
  • skilled in data analysis, GIS, and technical report writing
  • associate or full membership of CIEEM
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • valid UK driver’s license , access to a car, and willingness to travel
  • commitment to WSL’s quality systems and continuous improvement
  • relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • willingness to obtain protected species licenses

Responsibility

  • conduct ecological surveys and assessments across the UK, primarily in Scotland, ensuring timely and compliant project delivery
  • lead fieldwork activities including habitat assessments, species surveys, and ecological monitoring
  • provide expert ecological advice to clients and project teams, ensuring adherence to legislation and best practices
  • prepare clear and accurate reports, management plans, and Ecological Impact Assessments
  • liaise professionally with clients, regulators, and stakeholders
  • mentor junior staff, offering training and supervision
  • contribute to business development through proposals, meetings, and networking
  • integrate emerging ecological trends and technologies into project work
