Requirements
- strong knowledge of Scottish ecological legislation and consultancy experience
- skilled in data analysis, GIS, and technical report writing
- associate or full membership of CIEEM

- valid UK driver’s license , access to a car, and willingness to travel
- commitment to WSL’s quality systems and continuous improvement
- relevant degree or equivalent experience
- willingness to obtain protected species licenses
Responsibility
- conduct ecological surveys and assessments across the UK, primarily in Scotland, ensuring timely and compliant project delivery
- lead fieldwork activities including habitat assessments, species surveys, and ecological monitoring
- provide expert ecological advice to clients and project teams, ensuring adherence to legislation and best practices
- prepare clear and accurate reports, management plans, and Ecological Impact Assessments
- liaise professionally with clients, regulators, and stakeholders
- mentor junior staff, offering training and supervision
- contribute to business development through proposals, meetings, and networking
- integrate emerging ecological trends and technologies into project work
