Requirements


  • A degree in Ecology
  • full member of CIEEM, ideally a Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist
  • A minimum of 5 years of working in the ecology industry
  • detailed knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity metrics, relevant environmental and ecological impact assessment legislation, policy and guidance
  • hold survey and/or mitigation/conservation licences, particularly bat and great crested newt
  • degree in relevant subject such as Ecology, environmental sciences etc
  • client-side experience
  • A member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management
  • rail experience
  • understanding of ecological practices in the rail industry
  • experience coordinating Ecologist reports
  • specialist botanical skills and a supporting ecological skill set

Responsibility


  • having responsibility for technical quality / approval of project deliverables
  • undertaking ecological surveys, overseeing/undertaking the analysis of results of field surveys
  • managing and/or producing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals , impact assessments, biodiversity strategies and other documents
  • compiling licence applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring strategies
  • undertaking/supervising mitigation and monitoring of licensed work and liaising with statutory authorities
  • managing projects, attending meetings, supporting the technical manager with the day to day running of the team, providing advice to clients and managing business development
  • undertaking management of ecology team and providing training at staff meetings and to smaller groups of staff
  • represent and promote Milestone Infrastructure internally and externally at meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums
  • managing an entry-level Ecologist by providing appropriate direction, supporting their development, and helping to co-ordinate their workload to meet utilisation targets
  • providing advice on ecological issues, both at an in-depth level within own area of expertise but also on a broad range of issues
  • conduct Phase 1 habitat surveys, protected species surveys, and ecological assessments
  • provide ecological input into Environmental Impact Assessments
  • prepare and deliver ecological reports and mitigation strategies
  • liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
  • support in obtaining relevant environmental permits and licences
  • collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on a variety of renewable projects
  • providing support to capital design and operational teams to ensure
  • you will be working as part of the office team; however, you will have specific responsibilities
  • the wage for this role is £45,000 - £50,000
  • hours: 8.30am-5.00pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility may be required in order to meet the operational needs of the business
