Responsibility


  • using waste specific knowledge and best practise to make an assessment and where required suggest improvements
  • carry out site visits jointly with representatives from landlords or alone to determine if correct waste and recycling infrastructure is in place
  • to collect and record data and take photos on site, and take responsibility for ensuing information collected is accurate, complete and filed appropriately. To use the information collected to write up reports with recommendations
  • assist in developing partnerships with housing providers and other stakeholders to help deliver waste and recycling improvements on estates and in block of flats
  • to monitor to ensure a good standard of service delivery, contractor work and compliance with agreements made by housing providers and landlords
  • provide residents, council staff and caretaking staff with face to face and written information to help them to improve waste and recycling behaviours
  • the successful candidate will have a strong knowledge and experience of driving an increase in community engagement and behaviour change to improve local environmental quality, waste reduction, waste prevention, re-use, recycling and composting
  • carry out periodic monitoring of recently installed food waste recycling sites
  • advise and assist members of the general public to deposit waste at the recycling centre
  • help ensure that the different types of waste are placed in the correct container or location
  • direct the public to correct areas and draw attention to site notices where necessary
  • treat members of the public in a helpful manner at all times
  • when difficulties arise behave in a firm but courteous manner
  • make sure that such events are recorded and reported
  • also report instances where the depositing of waste appears to be unauthorised e.g
  • trade waste , or fly tipping
  • wear the correct PPE at all time at all times
  • work and operate equipment in a safe manner
  • be alert to the safety of members of the general public, contractors and work colleagues
  • operate equipment to compact waste and where appropriate move waste to the correct location on site. Separate waste to help maximise the level of recycling
