Responsibility
- many tenants fall into rent arrears , making it difficult for landlords to recover unpaid rent
- landlords often serve eviction notices because they believe there’s no alternative
- however, many tenants are eligible for Discretionary Housing Payments or other grants that could cover the arrears and prevent eviction
- the problem is tenants don’t know how to apply, and landlords don’t know these options exist
- ✅ Case Management: Receive and process new cases, ensuring all necessary documents are collected and assigned to specialists
- ✅ Follow-Ups & Updates: Check in with specialists ensuring cases are progressing and flagging any roadblocks
- ✅ Communication & Reporting: Send structured update reports to the team every and provide weekly updates to landlords/agents
- ✅ Deadline Tracking: Maintain a Case Tracker , ensuring deadlines are met and cases are escalated if delays arise
Requirements
- you understand the Discretionary Housing Payment process
- the stages of eviction, homelessness applications
- you are familiar with the laws around evictions, necessary documentation, and the full legal process down to bailiff enforcement
- working knowledge of Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 2017
- up to date knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and other relevant case laws which would help inform your decision making
- working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- expertise in Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Discretionary Housing Payments systems
- evictions: 3 years
