Responsibility
- harmeny Education Trust is a sector-leading children’s charity providing therapeutic care and education for children with complex additional support needs
- we work with children aged 5 to 18, both on a day and all-year-round residential basis, referred by local authorities throughout Scotland
- harmeny is situated in a beautiful 35-acre woodland estate in Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh; we are easily accessible by bus and there is ample parking
- we are seeking a Social Subjects Teacher with recent and significant experience of secondary teaching to join our outstanding Education Team on a full-time employed basis to work with children with complex additional support needs
- the post holder should have a keen interest and understanding of the Developing the Young Workforce agenda and hold a General Teaching Council for Scotland qualification in Social Subjects such as History, Geography or Modern Studies
- three school closure days are allocated for additional learning and development required for the specialist therapeutic learning environment that Harmeny promotes
- along with a creative approach to learning and teaching, the post holder will demonstrate a working experience of the Curriculum for Excellence through the Broad General Education and onto the Senior Phase
- applicants should be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland
