Responsibility
- operate a forklift to transport farming materials, equipment, and harvested produce, such as potatoes, beetroot, and onions, to designated areas
- load and unload trucks, trailers, and other vehicles using a forklift, ensuring proper stacking, securing, and protection of the agricultural goods
- safely handle and transport fragile or perishable crops, such as potatoes, beetroot, and onions, to minimize damage and maintain product quality
- maintain accurate records of inventory movement, including quantities and locations
- assist in organising and arranging agricultural materials and harvested produce in storage areas, ensuring efficient use of space and appropriate temperature and humidity control
- follow farming safety regulations and guidelines, such as wearing appropriate PPE, conducting pre-operational safety checks, and properly handling and storing chemicals or fertilizers
- assist in other farming tasks, such as loading/unloading agricultural equipment, preparing fields for planting, or harvesting, and general farm maintenance, as needed
Education
- GCSE or equivalent
Requirements
- valid forklift operator license
- proven experience operating a forklift in an agricultural environment
- familiarity with agricultural operations, equipment, and storage practices
- knowledge of safety regulations specific to agricultural operations, including handling of hazardous materials and proper storage of perishable goods
- ability to operate forklift attachments commonly used in agriculture
- strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and documenting inventory
- good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
