Responsibility

• to carry out audits to comply with cross infection, surgery checks and medical history / PR form checks
• to monitor team members performances and feedback to practice manager
• to carry out stock checks in surgeries to ensure team members are not hoarding stock

• to carry out nurse’s meetings, raise any concerns/improvements required and follow this up. Provide any training that may be required

• feedback improvements both staff and practice related to the practice manager
• to carry out surgery inspections and provide feedback and actions plans to staff members. This must be followed up before the next inspection
• monitor clinical waste system – ensuring all staff are making use of cable ties, stickers with the practice code/address
• be knowledgeable about what standards are expected to comply with CQC regulations and HTM1-05
• perform any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Practice Manager or Principal dentists
• to set an example to other team members, if you are free ensure you create tasks such as offering help in other surgeries, helping on reception and carrying out extended duties
• recording of treatment including charting form the dentist’s instructions and other associated clerical work
• preparation of filling materials, impression materials, instruments and equipment
• cleaning away used instruments and materials and keeping the surgery clean and tidy
• successfully onboard and induct all new nurse starters including trainee nurses
• first aid treatments for collapse e.g. coronary attack, fainting, bleeding tooth socket, epilepsy etc
• assisting dental staff with surgical procedures when necessary including barrier care
• assisting at preparation for investigation, e.g. x-ray procedures, blood tests and bacteriological tests
• maintaining stock levels in surgery and checking expiry dates. Re-ordering stocks when required
