ST NICHOLAS PREPARATORY SCHOOL is looking for employees for positions:
groundsperson
Responsibility
- creating, marking out and setting up of playing surfaces in readiness for lessons and matches
- ensuring the safe use and operation of equipment and machinery used in gardens and grounds maintenance
- informing the Maintenance Manager, where appropriate, to take corrective action on mechanical defects or breakdown of equipment
- observing and complying with the Health and Safety policy
- ensuring the security of the outbuildings/pavilions/garages where equipment is stored, remembering to unlock and lock at the appropriate times
- be proficient in the use, application and maintenance of grounds care equipment and operations including pedestrian and ride on equipment, tractor mounted implements and other associated tasks i.e., playing surface aeration, line marking, divoting, fertilizing, brushing, top dressing, seeding, weeding, watering and general maintenance, renovation and repair of all grass, planted, landscaped and synthetic areas
- keeping roads and pathways clear of snow and treat with rock salt as and when required
- assisting with the upkeep of selected beds, borders and shrubbery areas, hedges, lawns and the like to assist with garden planning and planting works
Requirements
- st Nicholas’ School is a thriving, forward-looking independent day school for girls aged 3 - 16 and boys 3 - 7
- use of a wide range of turf care equipment
- pitch maintenance and other sports related maintenance and marking
- use of mowers, hedge cutters, strimmer, tractors and other grounds machinery
- full clean driving licence
- have an understanding of relevant and current health and safety and industry legislation
- technical knowledge of industry standards and resources
- we are looking to recruit a full-time Groundsperson to join the team, to primarily undertake all aspects of gardening and grounds duties at the school
