Avoid Scott Jackson and Shia Glazing Ltd based in Thorpe Wakefield. He quoted me in July 2024 for replacement glazing and asked for a deposit so he could order and pay for them. Stupidly I paid half of the total quote. Lesson learned. From then until last week - November 2024, he has come up with endless excuses for not being able to fit the glazing as planned. I became suspicious and looked on the Companies House website. He had a first gazette notice for bankruptcy, issued on 10th September 2024. This meant that after 3 months from that date, his company would cease to exist. I did however get an email a few weeks later from Companies House to say the bankruptcy was temporarily suspended. Scott told me he'd got into trouble with HMRC and was working it out. I asked for my money back but Scott refused, stating he had ordered and paid for my glazing.
So after approximately the 7th excuse for not doing the work, I had a free telephone consultation with a solicitor.
I told them he'd refused to give me my money back so they advised me to ask for proof that he'd actually ordered and paid for my glazing from the manufacturers. If he couldn't provide proof, then I could report him to the Police for fraud, because he's taking money without the intention of ordering and paying fir goods. Of course he refused to provide me with any proof because he knew full well that he hadn't even placed the order.
I gave him until the end of the working day on Friday 8th November 2024 to refund my deposit into my bank account, otherwise I would go to my local police station and report him fior fraud. The whole amount, I'm happy to say, has now been put into my account.
I keep a check on his customers reviews and I'm saddened to see that this is a pattern with him. He takes a big deposit, doesn't order the goods, and gives endless excuses.
If you are at the point that I was at, threaten to report him to the Police for fraud unless he returns your deposit.
You could take him to the small claims court. It'll cost you £50. If he doesn't pay up he'll get a ccj.
Trading standards may be interested in him. You can also join the Facebook site Rogue Traders warning others to steer clear of him.
Good luck
Please AVOID this company. We had such a bad experience with Scott, and it’s now come to light after doing a bit of digging with his previous customers from a housing estate in East Ardsley that I wasn’t the only one! Running my own business for so long, I could not believe the customer service I was provided with.
Scott was assiduous in the beginning, which is why we chose him – we thought it would be this same experience the whole way through the job – in fact it was quite the opposite.
18th March we sent our deposit for our composite door. The order form was sent to us with all our requirements and the turnaround time noted on the paperwork by Scott was 2-3 weeks. He had promised to push it through as an urgent job as the old door we were replacing was the only access to the property and needed urgent attention.
From then on it was excuse after excuse and multiple cancellations – Door was damaged upon collection, Ordering a new one, Van broke down, He forgot he was on holiday for a week, Family member died etc etc.
11th June it was finally fit after trying to cancel AGAIN – 3 month after our order after promising within 3 weeks urgent turnaround!
Our tenant had already wasted multiple days holiday on Scott and we were not prepared to be cancelled on again so we demanded it was installed the day he proposed. I was sent the photos of the completed door and when I questioned where the chrome house numbers were that was supposed to be on the door on order his excuse “totally forgot and I have left” and “nobody orders numbers these days” (Yes but I did so they should be on there). I really had no words left for this guy!
This guy does not know how to run a Business and after the type vocabulary used towards us as a customer i.e. “Pal” and “It’s on the pi$$” and begging for payment 5 minutes after he completed the job stating he “needed the money” – We hadn’t even checked the door even worked, not to mention the job was incomplete! We were willing to give him further work by way of new windows at the property but we soon changed our minds!
The vibes we get from this company is he is robbing Peter to pay Paul! I have already warned a customer from using him and will continue to do so to avoid anyone else the headache that we suffered.
How's it going with Shia Glazing?
Still ongoing, lots of excuses. I don't even believe he's ordered my glazing with the money I gave him in July 2024.
He got a First Gazette notice for bankruptcy on 10th September 2024, which meant that 3 months from then he would be bankrupt and his company would cease to trade. However, this has just been temporarily suspended.
We've rearranged fitting yet again, for next Friday but I know there will be more excuses.
I have had a half hour free telephone consultation with a solicitor and it seems i have a few options. This will be his last chance before I take legal action.
STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY. From this company SHIA GLAZING. He a con man takes your money and gives loades of excess why he cannot fit your windows and doors. To everyone in the past go and knock on his door, take it from me his wife doesn't no what's going on or what he's saying. Don't wish to put 1 star
Endless delays, constant chasing, endless delays to refund, months and months of last minute excuses, delays and chasing. Avoid avoid avoid.
I'm ongoing with Shia glazing Ltd. Same as you, paid deposit in July, excuses ever since. I don't even think the windows have been ordered. Did you get a refund in the end?
Don't use this company. They will take your deposit and not provide the goods or service and give you endless excuses and endless fitting dates.
What is the current situation at SHIA GLAZING? Has anyone worked there? We await any info on current state of the company.
Shia glazing Ltd had a first gazette notice for bankruptcy issued on 10th Sept 2024. 3 months after that date, his company would cease to exist.
His bankruptcy has recently been temporarily suspended. He told me he'd got into difficulties with HMRC but that he was sorting it out.
He is clearly in trouble financially and is still taking deposits then using every excuse going to delay the job. I don't believe he uses the money that customers give him as a deposit, to order their goods.
