Requirements
demonstrated experience in a similar Health and Safety Management role
in-depth knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, legislation and best practices
strong ability to develop and implement effective Health and Safety policies and procedures
excellent communication and interpersonal skills to advise and train staff at all levels
analytical and problem-solving abilities to conduct risk assessments and investigations
A proactive approach to staying updated with changes in legislation and industry standards
relevant qualifications in Health and Safety management, IOSH, NVQ, NEBOSH. Minimum level 6 / degree and either Chartered Safety Practitioner Status or actively working towards Chartered Status
ability to work independently and comfortable making H&S decisions in busy working environment
Responsibility
conducting and organising relevant health and safety training for staff, including first aid and fire safety
conducting investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents, recording findings on relevant forms
advising the Operations Director on all incidents reportable under RIDDOR
implementing practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, to promote health and safety and safe working practices in the workplace
conducting Health and Safety inspections and preparing reports and documents as required
leading the creation of generic risk assessments and, in some cases, specific risk assessments for tasks and activities carried out by PSVG&G employees
conducting all necessary risk assessments and special assessments for each PSVG&G site, including but not limited to display screen equipment, manual handling, lone working, forklift loading, pregnant workers, and young workers
keeping up to date with changes in current legislation and implementing relevant changes within the organisation
