financial controller
Responsibility
- lead and manage financial accounting, reporting, and analysis activities, ensuring strict adherence to UK accounting standards, regulatory compliance, and internal policies
- day-to-day management of finance and finance team based in Southend-on-Sea
- drive the implementation of CRM, pay & bill, and accountancy systems, optimizing processes for efficiency and accuracy aligned with company objectives
- develop and enforce robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and enhance financial performance
- management accounts preparation and group consolidation
- generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing comprehensive analysis and strategic recommendations to senior management
- oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support strategic decision-making
- direct the recruitment, development, and management of the finance team, fostering a high-performing and skilled workforce
Requirements
- qualified accountant with a profound understanding of UK GAAP and regulatory frameworks
- two-three years minimum post-qualification experience
- proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within the UK, demonstrating success in financial management and implementing new systems
- prior experience in recruitment
- proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
- strong leadership, managerial, and interpersonal skills with the capability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- exceptional adaptability, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a strategic mindset
- experience with Xero, Sage, and other financial software and ERP systems
