Requirements

  • knowledge of / experience in tour operating or the wider travel industry
  • sound knowledge of the geography of the UK and Ireland
  • excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • ability to remain calm under pressure, to deal with the unexpected and to handle an escalated complaint or issue
  • awareness of consumer, GDPR and HR legislation and best practice
  • A belief that a holiday in the UK/ Ireland can be every bit as good as one abroad
  • three or more years’ experience as a sales manager, leading a team, in travel or a business to business or high value lead-management environment
  • proven record of leading by example and coaching a team to succeed across the entire sales process, from resource planning to closing sales and generating repeat business

Responsibility

  • input to monthly and annual sales targets, analyse performance data and prepare accurate management information reports and forecasts for the General Manager and Directors
  • motivate and coach a team of sales advisors to respond quickly, efficiently and appropriately to customer and travel trade enquiries and achieve the highest possible conversion to booking predominantly using email and phone communications
  • identify knowledge gaps within the sales team and develop plans for filling them, whether through in-house coaching or familiarisation visits
  • participate in the 24/7 duty office rota to provide support and back-up for customers on holiday
  • identify opportunities to use technology or re-organize to improve processes across the sales team and the business in general
