Responsibility
- drafting, securing approval for and submitting regulatory responses, and handling any subsequent communications, overseeing the maintenance of the regulatory communications log
- assessing and managing regulatory risk including compliance with data protection and financial crime legislation
- undertaking documented compliance, financial crime and data protection risk assessments on an annual basis
- overseeing the horizon scanning process and ensuring that the Compliance Universe is maintained
- conducting gap analyses of proposed regulatory changes
- providing accurate and insightful MI and reports to ExCo, the Risk Committee and the Board on communications with the regulator and live compliance issues
- providing advice to regulatory change project teams to ensure that deliverables meet regulatory expectations
- overseeing the regulatory reporting policy and ensuring that regulatory reporting is completed accurately and within the timescales required
Requirements
- up to date and in-depth knowledge of FCA regulation and expectations including the consumer duty
- strong working knowledge of either financial crime or data protection legislation
- experience in a mortgage compliance function with good understanding of the mortgage process
- proven ability to interpret regulation and legislation in a commercial context
- demonstrable evidence of having exercised professional judgement, focussing on critical factors to resolve complex issues
- relevant industry experience in the mortgage sector
- compliance assurance and monitoring experience
- ability to take an holistic view of business or compliance issues to ensure that the impact, or unintended consequences , are identified and understood
