Requirements


  • proven experience in health and safety management within multi-site organisations
  • strong understanding of public sector duties related to health and safety
  • in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management, and compliance frameworks
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and implementing H&S policies
  • ability to manage complex projects and drive improvements across multiple locations
  • excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others
  • experience in handling accidents, investigations, and reporting for management
  • strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • proven experience in the leadership of internal and external teams in the delivery of complex projects and business change
  • proven experience of a range of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing project deliveries
  • proven experience in working within an HR and HSW environment
  • experience of working successfully with TU colleagues and Health & safety committees
  • experience of delivering health & safety projects and change in similar size organisations
  • hold the relevant Health & Safety qualifications at Level 6 or higher
  • graduate member of the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety or higher
  • experience of working in a senior role in Health and Safety in an office and homeworking environment
  • problem-solving ability
  • in depth understand of Health and Safety Law and the ability to understand and apply regulations
  • pro-active approach to improving health and safety and wellbeing policies

Responsibility


  • oversee and manage all aspects of health and safety across multiple sites
  • ensure compliance with all current health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards
  • develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and systems across the organisation
  • conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective measures
  • ensure proper investigation of accidents and incidents, producing reports and recommending preventative actions
  • provide expert advice to senior management and operational teams regarding health and safety issues
  • lead health and safety training initiatives for staff to promote a safety-first culture across all locations
  • ensure the organisation's public sector duty obligations are met in accordance with applicable legislation
  • work closely with external auditors and agencies, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • prepare reports and documentation for senior management and relevant stakeholders
  •  Oversee, review and develop health, safety and well-being policies and procedures, ensuring they are legally compliant, and risks are effectively managed
  • carry out safety conversations with staff and visitors on site to identify and safety concerns. Action any issues raised to resolve concerns in a timely manner
  • increase on close calls, safety conversations and 3P Audits
  • participate as required in the risk assessment process
  • ensuring all Production meets the Safety and Quality requirements of internal standards
  • conduct 3P audits and assist in investigations where unexpected problems arise
  • ensure that where applicable, documented Quality procedures are adhered to

  • you will manage the provision of Health, Safety and Wellbeing services to the organisation and actively promote best practice in these areas
  • lead the H&S Committee, ensuring meetings are held regular and all minutes and actions are documented
