  • valid driver's license and standard driving skills
  • knowledge of NHS HTM technical documents, British standards, regulations, legislation, and codes of practice

  • in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, legislation, and industry standards
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address health and safety issues
  • excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and deliver training sessions
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • must have experience working within the construction industry in a Health and Safety role
  • carrying out incident investigations

Responsibility


  • 11. Take an active role in developing the Works Delivery team in matters of workforce health, safety and the environment
  • production of nightly reports on findings able to assist and advise operatives, supervisors and managers on site
  • facilitate arrangements for safety and environmental audits
  • maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance documents through the Contractor H&S Management System and Computer Aided Facility Management system
  • analyse contractor health and safety key performance indicator data, identify issues, and advise on improvement strategies
  • conduct root cause analysis and implement action plans to continuously improve the quality of Estates service
  • produce department risk registers and provide cost-effective recommendations for revenue savings
  • conduct annual quality audits of H&S management systems to ensure compliance with service contracts
  • serve as the primary point of contact for all Estates health and safety concerns, providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety issues
  • collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement processes and procedures that support safe daily operations
  • ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • review and update H&S-related policies and procedures in line with legislative changes and industry best practices
  • coordinate activities across multiple teams, departments, and external consultants/contractors to assess risks and manage them effectively
  • ensure proper training and capacity building for the Estates Fabric Team to carry out their responsibilities safely
  • provide support and deputize for the QHSE Manager, as needed, to ensure the efficient operation of Estates maintenance services
  • in this role you will work as a business partner to the University’s Student Journey Directorate Team
  • support the development of onsite documentation
