Responsibility

  • we are seeking a skilled and experienced South Indian Kitchen Chef/Cook to join our cafe located in Headingley
  • prior experience in a hotel or kitchen support role would be advantageous
  • as a South Indian Kitchen Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic South Indian dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation
  • menu Planning: Collaborate with management to develop an enticing South Indian menu that reflects the cafe's concept and meets customer preferences and dietary requirements
  • food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian dishes, including dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, chutneys, and various curries, while ensuring adherence to recipes and maintaining consistent taste and quality
  • ingredient Selection: Source and select fresh, high-quality ingredients for South Indian recipes, ensuring their availability and maintaining inventory levels. Monitor and manage ingredient costs effectively

Requirements

  • prior experience as a South Indian Kitchen Chef or in a similar role is preferred
  • proficient in cooking authentic South Indian cuisine, including dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, chutneys, and curries
  • strong knowledge of South Indian spices, flavors, and cooking techniques
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • excellent organizational and time management skills
  • team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • familiarity with health and safety regulations and food handling procedures
