bookkeeper
Responsibility
- maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Sage and other software
- record day-to-day financial transactions and ensure all entries are categorised correctly
- reconcile bank statements, ledgers, and accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
- prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- collaborate with the directors to support month-end and year-end closing processes
- monitor and analyse financial data to identify potential areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities
- stay updated with accounting principles, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance
- place orders with suppliers using Sage, and liaise with them to ensure goods are received on time
Requirements
- AAT qualification or equivalent certification in accounting
- at least 3 years proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
- strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations
- excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
- an understanding of the construction industry is also highly beneficial but not essential
