deputy manager
Responsibility
- you will effectively manage any occurring issues and problems providing support and guidance to the team as appropriate
- ensure all custodial areas are safe and secure
- daily allocation of team to meet operational demand, ensuring full optimisation of resources and maintaining and updating the systems
- provide Prisoner Custody Officer cover for courts within the cluster as directed by CCM
- lead, manage and coach team members within the court when required
- you will provide daily support to the Court Custody Manager within the running of the court, including contributing to decisions on the deployment of resources and quality assurance checks
- securely escort prisoners in custody whilst in court including to the dock, on legal visits and during comfort breaks
- in the absence of the Court Custody Manager, you will regularly deputise for them and ensure continuity of operations and working standards
Requirements
- experience working in a demanding, and fast paced environment
- our Officers all have very different backgrounds but come together to build their own local officer community
- exceptional communication and observation skills, the ability to engage with people effectively and to actively listen
- you can influence and persuade people and have a positive and practical approach to meeting objectives
- you have a good grasp of technology and can use handheld devices
- you are dynamic and can react to emerging issues
- previous supervisory or management experience is beneficial but not essential. You must be able to lead, manage, engage, and motivate a team to achieve performance objectives
- you demonstrate patience and understanding especially during challenging situations
