Responsibility
you will effectively manage any occurring issues and problems providing support and guidance to the team as appropriate
ensure all custodial areas are safe and secure
daily allocation of team to meet operational demand, ensuring full optimisation of resources and maintaining and updating the systems
provide Prisoner Custody Officer cover for courts within the cluster as directed by CCM
lead, manage and coach team members within the court when required
you will provide daily support to the Court Custody Manager within the running of the court, including contributing to decisions on the deployment of resources and quality assurance checks
securely escort prisoners in custody whilst in court including to the dock, on legal visits and during comfort breaks
in the absence of the Court Custody Manager, you will regularly deputise for them and ensure continuity of operations and working standards
Requirements
experience working in a demanding, and fast paced environment
our Officers all have very different backgrounds but come together to build their own local officer community
exceptional communication and observation skills, the ability to engage with people effectively and to actively listen
you can influence and persuade people and have a positive and practical approach to meeting objectives
you have a good grasp of technology and can use handheld devices
you are dynamic and can react to emerging issues
previous supervisory or management experience is beneficial but not essential. You must be able to lead, manage, engage, and motivate a team to achieve performance objectives
you demonstrate patience and understanding especially during challenging situations
