- provide leadership to the service team, issue work instructions and monitor the performance of the traffic planning and controller team
- manage, motivate, train and develop the team as required
- effectively manage any underperformance and implement disciplinary procedures as and when required
- manage absence and conduct return to work interviews as and when required
- manage the planning process for mobilisation of new work and tactical re-routes
- contribute towards on-going cost control activities and actively seek to improve efficiency, reduce operating cost, increase margins and meet budget targets
- ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to, including H&S inductions, training, operating procedures and near miss reports
- also manage the seasonal challenges of Bank Holidays and Christmas Holidays to ensure the resource and routes are optimised to meet customer requirements
