Requirements

  • previous working experience as a PCV mechanic within a Bus/Coach operating company is preferred
  • fully qualified to Modern Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3
  • excellent mechanical knowledge
  • driving licence is essential, Category D is preferred
  • A good level of technical knowledge and ability in the mechanical repair of buses, coaches and commercial vehicles
  • good problem solving and manual skills
  • honesty, integrity and positive attitude
  • ability to work alone or as part of a team

Responsibility

  • service, maintenance and repairs to a range of Buses & Coaches to VOSA standards
  • diagnosing and rectifying all types of PCV mechanical faults. Ability to diagnose & repair electrical systems would be an advantage
  • carry out mechanical repairs relating to accident damage
  • preparing PCVs & HGVs for annual test
  • carrying out routine maintenance & repairs on commercial vehicles

  • ensuring all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that the relevant precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • we would ideally like someone who is a qualified and experienced PCV / HGV mechanic. A full UK Driving licence & PCV licence is essential

  • supply estimates of any repairs needed and communicating them efficiently to the customer
  • talking to insurers to gain authorisation for repairs
  • keeping the customer informed at every stage of the job, advising them of any extra work/payments that may be required
  • answering general queries over the phone/email
  • liaising successfully with staff and engineers
  • handing over completed vehicles ensuring customer satisfaction with work carried out
