- conduct regular inspections of centrifuge equipment to identify any mechanical issues or abnormalities
- install, maintain, and repair mechanical components, including pumps, pipe work, valves, and associated equipment
- perform fault finding and troubleshooting activities on mechanical equipment within the manufacturing plant
- collaborate with engineers, electricians, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems
- perform first-level maintenance activities on all onsite assets
- your primary role will involve ensuring the proper functioning of the centrifuge equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and conducting routine inspections
- perform maintenance and repair tasks on centrifuges, including disassembly, cleaning, replacement of parts, and reassembly
- collaborate with team members to execute mechanical installation tasks according to project requirements and specifications
- conduct planned preventive maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability of machinery
- adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment
- undertake large plant complex repairs when required
- you will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of the centrifuge systems

- utilise Breathing Apparatus and work in confined spaces as necessary
- conduct routine testing and calibration of centrifuge systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, implementing appropriate solutions to minimize downtime
- participate in the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment as per project requirements
- as a Mechanical Engineer working in the water industry sector you would be expected to carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance on water industry assets
- provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members when necessary
- continuously develop new skills within and outside your core discipline
- collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
- adhere to safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations
- adhere to strict health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others
- you will be working as part of a highly skilled and experienced mobile team in and around the Exeter/Plymouth/Truro/ Launceston areas and you will be provided with a van and tools to ensure you are able to provide a valuable service to the water industry

- valid CSCS certification
- proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in the water industry or a related field
- familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and the ability to perform PPM tasks effectively
- familiarity with small package pump station works and associated equipment is highly desirable
- experience with gas dosing equipment, preferably CL2 and SO2
- self-managing and self-motivated - Essential
- willingness to travel to job sites and occasionally stay away from home
- NVQ qualification or time-served experience in mechanical fitting
- strong knowledge and hands-on experience with centrifuge equipment and systems
- proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals
- ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications
- excellent communication and teamwork skills
- experience working in a team to deliver desired outputs
- proven experience in installing pumps, valves, and pipework in the water industry
- confined Space training
- use of machine tools to produce components of medium complexity from a variety of materials. - Desirable
