Responsibility

  • it is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity
  • our flagship event is the Devon County Show, staged every third week of May at Westpoint near Exeter
  • the Finance Manager reports to the Chief Executive and will work closely with the DCAA team, supported by the Honorary Treasurer
  • the Devon County Agricultural Association has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and the rural economy in Devon since its formation in 1872
  • the DCAA owns a subsidiary company, Westpoint Centre Limited, that is charged with generating income from the buildings and land during the remaining 11 months of the year
  • the role will lead all finance activities and be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation's finance systems, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and statutory requirements
  • the role will provide temporary cover for a 3-4 month period working 3 days a week, whilst the organisation recruits a permanent full time Finance Manager. Start date 11th December
  • the successful candidate will be a formally qualified accountant with strong technical and systems skills. The role would suit someone who is positive and progressive and enjoys working as part of a small team

Requirements

  • experience in the Charity sector
  • working with Xero
  • producing written reports to a high standard for a Board / Audit Committee
  • knowledge of charity requirements and key considerations
