Responsibility
collaborate with the bid team to review tender documents, identify risks and opportunities, and provide accurate pricing information
contribute to the development of commercial strategies and provide support during tender negotiations
review and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
maintain accurate records and documentation, including contract correspondence, variations, and relevant project information
forecast and analyze project financial performance, identifying potential risks or deviations from budgeted costs
collaborate with project managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement appropriate measures
cost Estimation and Tendering:Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for railway construction projects, considering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
participate in commercial meetings, providing expert advice and guidance on cost and contractual matters
Requirements
bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications are advantageous
proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the rail or construction industry, preferably with exposure to Network Rail projects
strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, contract law, and commercial management within the rail sector
proficiency in cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, and financial control
excellent analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail
effective communication and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to build positive relationships with stakeholders
strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving complex commercial issues
familiarity with Network Rail's standards, processes, and compliance requirements is highly desirable
