Responsibility

  • collaborate with the bid team to review tender documents, identify risks and opportunities, and provide accurate pricing information
  • contribute to the development of commercial strategies and provide support during tender negotiations
  • review and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • maintain accurate records and documentation, including contract correspondence, variations, and relevant project information
  • forecast and analyze project financial performance, identifying potential risks or deviations from budgeted costs
  • collaborate with project managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement appropriate measures
  • cost Estimation and Tendering:Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for railway construction projects, considering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • participate in commercial meetings, providing expert advice and guidance on cost and contractual matters

Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications are advantageous
  • proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the rail or construction industry, preferably with exposure to Network Rail projects
  • strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, contract law, and commercial management within the rail sector
  • proficiency in cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, and financial control
  • excellent analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • effective communication and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to build positive relationships with stakeholders
  • strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving complex commercial issues
  • familiarity with Network Rail's standards, processes, and compliance requirements is highly desirable
