Responsibility
- complete all daily vehicle checks and fill out the designated Vehicle Defect sheet at the start and end of each shift
- report all defects including tyre issues to Fleet Office
- complete all allocated work within the working day

- supervise and co-ordinate in a timely manner all work to be carried out by the collection crews allocated to you
- fill vehicles with fuel on return to yard at end of the day or on your return journey to your depot
- ensure all CCTV cameras are working on your vehicle before commencing your daily work and where fitted, ensure inward-facing cameras face the driver
- present Tachograph card for downloading on a weekly basis
- ensure thorough and efficient briefing and deployment of all collection crews in order to achieve targets set
- report to the Fleet Office at the end of the day for de-briefing and advice on following day’s work
- debrief collection crews upon return to the depot, investigating any failure to complete allocated tasks
- effectively plan in advance correctly placing resources based on information available
- ensure your vehicle is kept in a safe, serviceable and clean condition
- ensure allocated crews are suitably trained and developed and can safely and professionally operate the vehicles and equipment
- load and unload the vehicle adhering to Safe Working Procedures and Risk Assessments
- monitor performance and attendance of workforce updating personal records as required
- ensure all collections are efficiently organised and the right level of staffing is allocated to meet the needs of the contract on a daily basis
- work from other depots within the group and operate other vehicles when required
- conduct absence reviews, disciplinary and grievance meetings in line with Company procedures
- monitor the progress of all allocated collection rounds to ensure the completion of all work schedules including monitoring of Whitespace and other IT systems
- note: in addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required
- ensure all loads are safely secured and that there is no risk of waste or debris falling from your vehicle trailer or container whilst it is on the public highway
- oversee planned preventative maintenance to ensure work is completed in line with schedule requirements and escalating issues where necessary
- grease fifth wheel plate regularly
- staff have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions at work
- ensure compliance with Drivers hours rules and correct completion of drivers hours books
- to drive Company vehicles in a safe and legal manner whilst keeping service levels high and ensuring daily work is completed
- report all accidents and incidents immediately to your fleet office or the Compliance Team and obtain details as required
- wear Countrystyle Recycling Uniform at all times and correct PPE required when collecting or delivering to customer and other Countrystyle operated sites
Requirements
- good communication skills both verbal and written
- previous experience in the Recycling Industry
- good geographic knowledge of London and the South East

- previous HGV driving experience
- have eligibility to work in the UK
