Aram Bidikian, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses the role of the immune microenvironment in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and how this impacts response to therapy. Dr Bidikan highlights an analysis which used CyTOF to evaluate immune determinants of response in patients with CML. Results demonstrated that patients with suboptimal response to therapy had a higher proportion of macrophages expressing the VISTA marker, as well as a higher expression of exhaustion markers on T-cells. This interview took place at the 64th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition congress in New Orleans, LA.
