Requirements

have or working towards a national/local Youth/Play Work qualification
experience of working with children and/or young people
friendly, cheerful, positive and self-driven with an ability to turn challenges into opportunities
ability to establish positive relationships with children/young people, staff and volunteers
develop and contribute to fun and exciting programs that appeal to children and young people
able to work independently and as part of a team
an understanding of safeguarding children and young people and how to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
ability to work on own initiative and to access support and supervision appropriately

Responsibility

lead on or help to plan relevant youth & play programs/activities that are enjoyable, rewarding and fun
develop and maintain robust community relationships with external stakeholders and the local/wider community
develop and maintain positive relationships with children and young people
develop opportunities that empower and encourage young people to fully participate and play an active role in the decision-making processes
advocate on behalf of children/young people and help them to become self-advocates
carry out relevant administration/record keeping tasks during activities, as required
supporting the Youth Work team/Centre Manager and the Bronte, in its entirety and implement its relevant policies and procedures, and overall aims and objectives
staying informed on legislation, local and national issues, and best practice in youth work
