lead and oversee ecological projects from inception to completion
prepare of a range of technical reports and deliver high quality outputs
plan, conduct and oversee ecological surveys
lead Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
ensure compliance with UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and best practices
provide guidance on protected species licensing and mitigation strategies
engage with regulatory bodies such as Natural England and local planning authorities
Requirements
relevant degree level qualification plus appropriate level of CIEEM membership of equivalent
relevant ecology / biology degree
strong knowledge of UK ecology, habitats, and protected species
interest in UK ecology and wildlife legislation with the desire to broaden your knowledge and experience
in-depth knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation, planning policy
willingness to undertake training to develop your skills and experience
experience leading ecological surveys and impact assessments
interest in working towards CIEEM membership and Natural England licenses e.g. bat, great crested newt
Contract type
shadowing senior colleagues on site visits e.g. Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Biodiversity Net Gain Baseline Assessments
enrolment onto the Batability ‘Certificate of Bat Acoustics Analysis’ online course with the opportunity to become certified
bat call analysis using Anabat Insight software
data analysis of footage from infrared cameras
static bat detector deployment / retrieval at various sites
completing desktop studies, obtaining and interpreting biological records
assisting with up to 3 x bat surveys per week during the survey season. Hour for hour Time off in Lieu or overtime payment for out of hours survey work
