I had an extremely disappointing experience with Ayaana Fitness as a potential employee. The hiring process was unorganized and unprofessional, dragging out for months. I applied on August 19th and was led to believe I had secured the role by September 27th, only to later discover it was still undecided. On October 6th, I was asked to do an unpaid trial shift despite thinking I already had the job. The manager initially told me the trial would last a maximum of 2 hours, but I ended up working from 2 PM to 7:15 PM without being informed until the very end that I wouldn’t be paid for my time.
Additionally, the so-called "luxury" and "hygienic" standards the gym claims to uphold were not reflected in practice. During the trial, I was told to use the same cleaning equipment for all areas—showers, toilets, steam rooms, and saunas—which is a blatant disregard for hygiene and cross-contamination. Staff were also expected to reuse disposable gloves, which were all stored in one place, making it impossible to know if you were using a glove previously worn by someone else.
To make matters worse, I applied for a weekend job with occasional bank shifts during the week, but after much chasing and delays (I didn’t receive confirmation of the role until October 19th), I was informed that the position was changed to only bank staff without any prior discussion. This was not the role I applied for, nor was it what was communicated to me throughout the process. When I emailed to clarify and express my concerns, I didn’t even receive a reply.
Ayaana Fitness presents itself as a premium gym, but their lack of professionalism, poor hygiene practices, and complete disregard for transparency with staff tell a very different story. I cannot recommend working here or trusting them to deliver the high standards they claim to offer
Didn’t sign up with them but they were absolutely horrible to my friend! They should be ashamed for the way they treated her!!
I have been attending this gym for a few months and here is my honest review.
The aesthetic is really nice but the gym is way too small. It is more like a glorified home gym and the equipment isn’t worth the price. It gets really crowded after 5pm as there isn’t enough floor space to work out.
Also, the management is really poor. I have often seen the manager UmmAmaarah have mood swings and take it out on the receptionists, who have now apparently become cleaners as there isn’t officially one. The rules change all the time, e.g. the last spa admission time is 6pm but depending on who you are, the manager decides to let you in at 6.45pm. The prices also flip flop so much, once dropping from £800 to £600 in two weeks. There is no way of getting refunded the difference either.
The spa, isn’t really a “spa”. 3 small infrared saunas and a steam room which is too small. The “ice bath” is basically a box with cold water, too small to even sit in.
There aren’t any pictures of the gym because if there was, I doubt it would attract customers due to the small size, poor equipment and steep prices.
The manager also has a habit of delivering false promises I.e. missed and unrealistic time scales of new equipment, and a failure to bring in promised equipment. It is not run well at all and I don’t think I will be renewing my membership.
Some of the machines, such as the stair stepper, shake with use. It’s not built well. Also, a lot of the cardio machines regularly break down and it takes over a month to get it replaced.
You’re better off going to a commercial gym with a ladies only area as this gym is not it.
I guess we are all entitled to our own opinions and views. I implore you to perhaps go elsewhere that is more suited to your needs.
Absolutely disagree!
I actually see this gym in a very different light, especially when it comes to its unique value for Muslim women. The smaller size creates a more private, intimate environment that's ideal for those seeking a comfortable and secure space to work out without feeling overwhelmed by large crowds. This atmosphere, combined with the focus on a women-only clientele, fosters a sense of community and belonging that many bigger gyms simply can't offer.
As for the management, I believe their flexibility in rules and pricing could actually be a sign of their willingness to adapt to members' needs. It's clear that they're working to create a welcoming environment and are responsive to individual requests, which I see as a huge positive in ensuring everyone feels valued.
Regarding the spa, I think it's fantastic that they offer specialised features like infrared saunas, which are rare in most gyms. The gym's effort to cater to wellness beyond traditional workouts shows a genuine commitment to holistic health. I also appreciate that they’ve managed to carve out a space that prioritises women’s needs, something that’s incredibly beneficial for Muslim women looking for a supportive and understanding gym environment.
For me, this gym stands out not just as a place to exercise but as a community where women can come together in a space designed just for them. The effort to accommodate religious and cultural sensitivities, creating a truly inclusive environment, makes all the difference.
Why aren’t there any pictures of this gym? Google maps shows an entrance to a block of flats. The app on the website doesn’t work and there hasn’t been any response from the company. I emailed and called, haven’t heard back at all. The social media page is also very scarce. Seems very amateur and poorly run.
The main reason there aren't pictures available is that this gym is specifically designed for women, so privacy is a major focus. To respect the comfort and modesty of all members, they prioritise keeping the space as private as possible.
That being said, they do offer the opportunity to book a viewing in person, which I think is a great way to see the facilities for yourself and get a real sense of what the gym has to offer. I’m sure they’d be happy to walk you through everything in detail! Also, as they grow and refine their services, I’m confident their communication and online presence will improve to better meet everyone’s needs. It’s a special space that’s dedicated to creating a comfortable environment for women, and I believe that focus makes it worth considering.
How can one book a viewing, and are there specific times available? Also, are there plans to improve the app and communication channels soon?
No pictures of the gym site, no communication from the team and this is both through email, text and calls. Seems like a dodgy deal and management company.
The absence of pictures is likely a deliberate choice to respect the privacy of its members, which is a priority in a space that values modesty and comfort. For many Muslim women, having a safe, private environment where they can work out freely without worrying about unwanted attention is incredibly important.
It's important to keep in mind that this gym is a dedicated space for women, which means privacy is a top priority.
However, to address any doubts, they do offer the option to book a viewing! This way, you can see the facilities firsthand and get a true sense of the space and services. The team is more than happy to show potential members around in person to ensure transparency and to give you a real feel for the environment before making a decision. It’s all about creating a safe, supportive space for women, and I think that's something really special.
