Responsibility
- watford House Care Home is looking to source a Domestic Assistant on a permanent basis
- our residential home is in the beautiful High Peak, providing high quality residential, respite and dementia care to 36 residents
- this is a full-time position, offering 36 hours per week

- duties
- to maintain the security of bedrooms and contents
- the cleaning of all communal and private bathrooms and toilets
- provide a domestic cleaning service within the care home to the standards set down by company policy, best practice
- to be responsible for a set of keys and ensure the security and integrity of all areas of cleaning
- the cleaning of bedrooms, including vacuuming, wiping down of surfaces, watering plants, removal of papers and magazines , etc
- undertake all hygienic work practices in relation to the care home environment
- to report maintenance issues as per procedures
- deep cleaning routines that will include taking down and rehanging of curtains, shampooing of carpets, removal of odours, etc
- to clean domestic kitchen including surfaces, large and small equipment including microwave and fridges and inside of cupboards
- as Domestic Assistant, you will maintain the cleanliness of the environment and to ensure that hygiene standards are met in line with company procedures and statutory requirements
- clean and protect a variety of floor surfaces
- refilling paper towels, toilet rolls, and soup dispensers
- clean furniture, furnishing, fixtures and fittings
- to store linen, handle outgoing soiled linen and incoming clean linen
- cleaning of resident and staff kitchens, offices, corridors, and staircases
- to make beds if needed
- clean sanitary fixtures and fittings and replenish sundries
- completion of cleaning records as required
- to remove refuse
- we need someone who is flexible in their approach and able to assist in laundry as required
- pay rate: £10.42 per hour
- to operate machinery as required and comply with COSHH regulations
- clean vertical surfaces without the use of access equipment
- to work with the relevant legislation policies and procedures
- assist with the daily well-being of all residents and helping to establish them within their new environment
- to ensure show rooms are always ready for viewing to required standard
- ensure laundry services are effective, working in line with guidance and expectations
- develop a positive relationship with residents, visitors and staff
- report to the Home Manager, Housekeeper, Handyperson or Person in Charge any faulty appliances, damaged furniture equipment or any potential hazard
- adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales
- ensure laundry and personal possessions of residents is safe and returned to them, label as directed
- to maintain environment; deep clean carpeted and non-carpeted and areas, soft furnishings and bedding, fitting and fixtures, windows and walls, maintain storage areas
- work safely within company policies, seeking advice and guidance where necessary
- ensure the security of the Care Centre is maintained at all times
- ensure Health and Safety, infection prevention and control and fire safety within the laundry and wider care environment
- report any infection control issues immediately to your Home Manager, alert your person in charge
- staff have an obligation to all residents to report any incidents that they feel may be a safeguarding issue to their manager or senior staff
- ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties
Requirements

- experience/qualification in care for relevant Service User category
- satisfactory Policy Check and check against the PoVA list
