Reviews AUTISM ANGLIA
I worked at this school for three years and, unfortunately, my overall experience was disappointing. While supporting the pupils was rewarding, the working environment presented a number of challenges that ultimately influenced my decision to leave.
The workplace culture often felt unsupportive, with staff wellbeing appearing to be a low priority. Expectations placed on staff were frequently unrealistic, particularly given the limited resources available to effectively meet the needs of pupils. There was also a significant imbalance between responsibilities and compensation, with many staff members taking on substantial workloads without appropriate recognition or reward.
One of the most disappointing aspects was the lack of opportunities for professional development and career progression. I was given assurances by senior leadership that opportunities to further my professional development would be supported. However, despite these discussions, the promised training never materialised, and I ultimately funded my own qualification in order to continue developing my skills and progress my career.
I also requested an exit interview when leaving in the hope of providing constructive feedback, but this request was not accommodated, which reinforced my impression that staff voices are not sufficiently valued.
The pupils and many individual colleagues were the highlight of my time at the school. However, significant improvements in staff support, wellbeing, communication, resources, fair compensation, and career development would be needed for me to recommend this employer.
