Responsibility
- maintaining and further developing the private gardens
- managing Assistant Gardeners and volunteers
- lawn care and maintenance
- conducting risk assessments and implementing required safety measures to ensure the gardens remain a safe place for visitors and staff
- plant husbandry
- conducting garden tours as scheduled
- weed and pest control
- providing a welcoming presence for the visiting public and answering queries
Requirements
- have the ability to lead a team
- recognised horticultural qualification and/or 5 years’ experience working in horticulture
- spraying certificates PA1 and PA6a
- good plant knowledge and experience of lawn care and cultivation of roses
- skills in general gardening and maintenance
- experience of staff supervision and management
- A willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions is essential
- the ability to work independently and use initiative
