- responsible for developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures which reflect current employment law practice
- 2.3 Ensure the Charity continually self-assesses against those standards and develops and implements robust action plans for any shortcomings

- this includes recruitment, qualifications, registration, DBS disclosures, induction, ongoing training and development, supervision, appraisals and support
- 2.8 Identify, record and address all organisational risks via a robust risk register and present to the Chief Executive
- work with the Chief Executive and other Managers to grow the HR strategy, including workforce development, recruitment and retention, staff and volunteer wellbeing and support systems and adherence to employment law and good practice
- 2.1 Ensure governance standards which are set either through law, regulatory bodies, external sources or internal policies and procedures are fully adhered to
- work with departmental managers to agree required volunteer roles with appropriate skills and experience. Work to this model for recruitment and retention
- 2.10 Work in partnership with the Hospice Clinical Team on joint working initiatives where relevant to Governance & Compliance
- responsible for ensuring there is an up to date job description and person specification for each staff role and a role description for each volunteer role in the organisation
- 2.4 Lead responsibility for the ongoing review and revision of all policies and procedures; coordinating the review of these policies via allocated managers
- responsible for ensuring all staff and volunteers working at the Hospice meet the standards for ‘Fit and Proper persons’ as defined by CQC regulations
- 2.5 Lead responsibility for ensuring all complaints are dealt with in accordance with the Charitable Trust policy and procedures and resultant action plans discharged as a matter of priority
- lead on training and improved practice of training methods in line with costs and availability to accommodate various training needs
- 2.6 Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and confidentiality rules and ensure Subject Access Requests are dealt with in accordance with regulations
- responsible for the recruitment journey of all staff including, supporting managers with the role description and deliverables, advertising, shortlisting, interviews, offer letters, reference checking, DBS, Occupational Health screening, checking of qualifications and registration, and confirmation of start dates
- responsible for signing and issuing accurate and lawful Contracts of Employment, within the lawful timescales to all staff, ensuring signed copies are returned and filed
- 2.9 Work in conjunction with the Patient & Family Services Team to develop a programme of patient/carer surveys as required across Charity services, collating responses into reports and identifying any necessary actions
- responsible for ensuring all Trustees are engaged in accordance with set standards for Fit and Proper persons, undertake required training and development and are monitored appropriately
- attend fortnightly executive meetings to deliver updates developments and improvements on the HR department
