Responsibility
- witherby Publishing Group is a specialist publisher of marine training, reference and regulatory material for the shipping industry
- witherbys publishes operational guidance and technical standards for the shipping industry, both digitally and physically
- based in Livingston, we are one of Scotland’s largest and most successful publishing companies
- designing book covers for technical publications. These can range from industry specific sizes to bespoke pieces of work
- we work in collaboration with key industry bodies providing guidance to mariners
- creating Style sheets and Templates for our books that our typesetter will use to complete publications
- creating 2D illustrations to communicate technical information
- taking information from concept through to finished print ready documents
Requirements
- 3 years’ experience. The job is ideal for a Junior Graphic Designer making the move into a mid-weight role
- thorough knowledge of the print process
- knowledge of design industry standards and techniques
- be capable of working to tight deadlines
- be able to communicate clearly and ask for guidance when necessary
- possess excellent attention to detail and the ability to read and apply editors’ notes
- ability to follow strict instructions and also use initiative and creative resources when necessary
