SVQ Level 3 Social Services and Health care or equivalent professional qualification or willing to work towards this qualification which meets SSSC registration requirements for Support Workers in Housing Support Services
Requirements
responding appropriately and empathically to women who are emotional or in a distressed state
accurately and appropriately advising women of their welfare rights, legal rights, housing options, benefits and child support options
assisting women with necessary paperwork for application for housing benefits and other services
effectively assessing referrals to the service , completing risk assessments and admitting women, children and young people to our refuge accommodation
providing accurate and relevant information to enable women to make informed choices and decisions
assessing, with the woman, her support and safety requirements and developing with her a support package which is tailored to her risks and needs, and which takes a culturally sensitive approach
providing practical and emotional support in an empowering and non-judgemental way as part of a planned input to support women to recover from domestic abuse
signposting women appropriately to other support services when necessary to ensure all of her needs are met
