product design engineer
Working hours
- full-time | Permanent
Responsibility
- development of product concepts and creation of early prototypes
- exploration of product aesthetics, usability, and ergonomics
- technical and engineering analysis and design of novel components and mechanisms for mechanical, electro-mechanical and optical products
- layout and detail design of structural elements using 3D CAD design tools
- creation of proof of principle models and prototypes
- formal testing and product qualification in medical device approvals and CE marking
- liaison with a broad range of component suppliers and third-party manufacturers
- generation of formal design documentation
Requirements
- minimum 3-5 years in a relevant technical role taking products from concept to manufacture
- experience of 3D CAD systems, mechanism design, and the design of plastic moulded, machined and sheet metal components is essential
- bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design Engineering plus relevant experience in mechanical product design and manufacturing development, ideally within a consultancy environment
- relevant experience with motion control systems plus thermal and structural analysis would be a distinct advantage, as would experience with project planning and management
